Detailed Vehicle Fleet Description
Rochester IBC operates its own fleet of trucks for regional delivery and pickup, supplemented by vetted carrier partnerships for long-haul and full truckload routes. Here is what rolls out of our yard every day.
Flatbed Trucks (26-ft)
Our primary delivery vehicles for regional runs. 26-foot flatbed bodies mounted on medium-duty cab-and-chassis trucks. Open-top design allows easy forklift loading from either side. Each truck carries 12-18 IBCs in a single layer or up to 36 when stacking empty containers 2-high. Equipped with 5,000 lb capacity stake pockets and rated polyester strapping systems.
- Capacity: 12-36 IBCs per load
- GVW: 26,000 lbs
- Deck height: 42 inches
- Forklift-accessible from both sides
Flatbed Trailers (48-ft)
For larger regional loads, our 48-foot flatbed trailers are pulled by Class 8 day-cab tractors. These trailers handle mid-volume deliveries and combined delivery/pickup routes where we deliver clean containers and collect empties on the same trip. Double-stacking capability for empty IBCs.
- Capacity: 24-72 IBCs per load
- Max payload: 45,000 lbs
- Standard 48-foot deck
- Tandem axle for weight distribution
Full Truckload (53-ft Van/Flatbed)
For maximum volume, we coordinate 53-foot enclosed van trailers or flatbeds through our carrier partners. A standard 53-foot trailer holds 56-80 IBC totes depending on stacking configuration and whether containers are full or empty. These are the most cost-effective option per unit for large orders.
- Capacity: 56-80 IBCs per FTL
- Enclosed or flatbed options
- DOT-compliant securement
- Full insurance coverage included
Box Trucks (16-ft)
For small deliveries and tight access locations, our 16-foot box trucks deliver 1-8 IBCs to locations where flatbed access is difficult: narrow driveways, indoor loading bays, urban delivery points, and residential addresses. Equipped with hydraulic liftgate for dock-free unloading.
- Capacity: 1-8 IBCs
- Hydraulic liftgate standard
- Enclosed cargo protection
- Urban delivery capable
Truck-Mounted Forklifts
Several of our trucks carry Moffett-style truck-mounted forklifts that ride on the back of the vehicle and deploy at delivery sites. This means we can unload IBCs at any location, even if you do not have a forklift on site. No dock, no forklift, no problem.
- 5,000 lb lift capacity
- Deploys in under 2 minutes
- Reaches 15-foot lift height
- Operates on all terrain types
LTL Carrier Network
For small-volume long-distance shipments, we partner with vetted LTL carriers including major regional and national freight companies. Your IBCs are palletized, stretch-wrapped, and documented for safe transit. Full freight tracking provided from pickup to delivery.
- Nationwide LTL coverage
- 1-12 IBC shipments
- Liftgate available at delivery
- Full freight tracking & insurance
Shipping Methods for Every Need
We match the right transport method to your order size, timeline, and location. Whether you need a few IBCs delivered locally or a full truckload shipped across state lines, we have the capacity and carrier partnerships to make it happen.
LTL Shipping
Less-than-truckload shipping is ideal for orders of 1 to 12 IBC totes. Your containers share truck space with other freight, keeping costs low for smaller volumes. We palletize and secure every IBC for safe transit.
- Cost-effective for small volumes
- Liftgate service for dock-free locations
- Freight tracking provided
- Insured during transit
Flatbed Trucking
Our own flatbed trucks handle mid-range orders and regional delivery throughout Upstate New York and the surrounding area. Open flatbed loading allows for efficient stacking of IBCs and easy forklift access at your site.
- Our own trucks and drivers
- Scheduled delivery windows
- Easy forklift unloading
- Free within 50 mi for 10+ units
Full Truckload
For large orders, a full truckload (FTL) is the most economical option. A standard 53-foot trailer can carry 56 to 80 IBC totes depending on stacking configuration and weight. We coordinate with vetted carriers for long-haul routes.
- Lowest per-unit shipping cost
- Vetted carrier partnerships
- Full insurance coverage
- Door-to-door service
Load Configurations & Exact Capacities
Efficient loading directly impacts your bottom line. Fewer trips mean lower freight costs. Our team optimizes every load to maximize the number of IBCs per truck while maintaining safe transport standards.
Empty IBCs can be nested or stacked up to 4 high on a flatbed, significantly increasing per-load capacity. Full IBCs follow manufacturer stacking guidelines, typically 2-3 high depending on weight. We secure every layer with strapping and edge protectors to prevent shifting during transit.
For mixed loads containing both empty and full containers, we plan the loading sequence to place heaviest items at the bottom and distribute weight evenly across axles. This attention to detail prevents damage, ensures DOT compliance, and gets your containers delivered in the same condition they left our yard.

Safety Standards
All loads comply with DOT regulations for securement (49 CFR Part 393). IBCs are strapped with rated polyester strapping, edge protectors are placed at contact points, and drivers perform pre-trip inspections to verify load integrity. Full IBCs are transported with appropriate hazmat documentation when contents require it.
GPS Tracking & Delivery Scheduling
Every shipment from Rochester IBC is tracked and scheduled for your convenience. You know exactly where your containers are and when they will arrive.
GPS Fleet Tracking
Every truck in our fleet is equipped with GPS tracking. For deliveries on our own vehicles, we can provide real-time location updates and accurate ETA windows. For carrier shipments, we provide the carrier tracking number and link for online monitoring. You always know where your containers are in transit.
Scheduled Delivery Windows
Choose a delivery window that fits your operations. We offer morning (7 AM - 12 PM), afternoon (12 PM - 5 PM), and full-day windows. For regular customers, recurring delivery slots are reserved on our calendar. We call 30-60 minutes ahead of arrival so your team can prepare.
Delivery Scheduling System
Our logistics team manages scheduling through a dedicated dispatch system. Orders are assigned to routes based on geography, truck capacity, and customer time preferences. Same-day schedule changes are accommodated when possible. You receive a confirmation with date, window, and driver contact information.
Real-Time Communication
Our drivers communicate directly with your receiving team. You know when to expect the truck and can coordinate dock access, forklift availability, and personnel. If any delay occurs due to traffic, weather, or a preceding delivery, you are notified immediately with a revised ETA.
Weather & Road Monitoring
Northeast weather can be unpredictable. We monitor conditions and adjust schedules proactively. During winter storms, we reschedule deliveries rather than risk damage to your containers or safety issues. If a delay is unavoidable, you are notified immediately.
Proof of Delivery Documentation
Every delivery and pickup includes complete documentation: bill of lading, unit count, condition notes, delivery photos, and proof of delivery with signature. These records are emailed to you within 24 hours and stored in our system for your accounting and operations teams.
Freight Class, Insurance & Liability Coverage
Freight Classification
IBC totes are classified under NMFC (National Motor Freight Classification) codes for LTL shipping. The freight class depends on whether containers are empty or full, and the density of the shipment.
We handle all freight classification, BOL preparation, and carrier coordination. You do not need to know your NMFC code; we assign the correct classification to optimize your shipping cost.
Insurance & Liability Coverage
Every shipment from Rochester IBC is fully insured during transit. Whether we deliver on our own trucks or through carrier partners, your containers are covered from the moment they leave our facility until they arrive at your door.
- Our fleet: $1 million commercial auto liability, $500,000 cargo insurance per truck
- Carrier partners: minimum $100,000 cargo insurance per shipment, verified before dispatch
- All-risk coverage: protects against damage, theft, fire, and collision during transit
- Claims process: documented with delivery photos and condition reports for fast resolution
- Full replacement value: damaged containers are replaced or credited at full purchase price
- Hazmat coverage: additional environmental liability insurance for IBCs with hazardous residues
- Workers compensation: our drivers and crew are fully covered, protecting you from liability at your site

Pickup Services for Used IBCs
Our transport services are not just for delivery. We also pick up used, surplus, and end-of-life IBC totes from your location. Whether you are selling IBCs to us for cash or sending them for recycling, we come to you with the right equipment.
For businesses with regular IBC turnover, we set up scheduled pickup routes. Your empties are collected on a recurring basis, so they never pile up on your dock or in your yard. This is especially valuable for manufacturers and food processors who receive materials in IBCs weekly.
Combined pickup and delivery is the most efficient option. When we deliver fresh containers, we can simultaneously collect your empties on the same trip. This reduces cost for both services and minimizes the environmental footprint of transportation.
One-Time Pickup
Clearing out a batch of empties? We schedule a single pickup at your convenience. Ideal for seasonal cleanouts or one-time surplus.
Scheduled Routes
Regular weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly pickups. Your location is added to our route map. No need to call each time - we show up on schedule.
Combined Delivery + Pickup
The most efficient option. We deliver clean containers and pick up empties on the same trip. One truck, one stop, two services completed.
